About Pirate’s Beach Rentals
What makes the Pirate’s Beach neighborhood so unique is the eclectic array of houses. Some homes are large, while others are smaller cottages, but each home has ocean views, open air decks and windows galore. The architecture and blend of styles is also special, and you’ll enjoy checking out the other interesting homes in the area as you walk around.
Pirate’s Beach has its own small grocery mart, liquor store and even fresh seafood markets and bait shops. If you want to stock up on some essentials, Hummel’s General store is a one-stop-shop for groceries, ice, fresh deli sandwiches and pizza, pretty much all the goodies you may need for a vacation weekend. Their “Cave” is loaded with beer and wine, and it’s the best selection on the island! Right next door you’ll find Allex’s Seafood Market, which offers a wide variety of fresh fish and seafood. Cook it up any way you like it, because the Pirate’s Beach rentals kitchens are ideal for preparing a yummy meal.
The Galveston Country Club and the Golf Course are located in Pirate’s Cove off of Stewart Road and 12 Mile Road. Some of our Pirate’s Beach rentals come with access to the Galveston Country Club. Also located in Pirate’s Beach is the Lafitte’s Cove Nature Society, a subdivision of homes built on historic canals, which are partially open to the public as part of the city’s nature preserves. They’re a great spot for taking a birdwatching walk!
While you won’t really need to leave the Pirate’s Beach area during your stay, there are tons of things to do just a few minutes’ drive or bike ride away. Adjacent to Pirate’s Beach vacation rentals, and one of the things that makes it so great to stay here, is the Galveston Island State Park, a 2000-acre preserve of the last untouched natural area on Galveston Island. This is an ideal spot for enjoying the undeveloped beaches, hiking and birdwatching in a natural coastal dune ecosystem, and also kayaking and fishing. In fact, the park has several marked “paddling trails” for you to enjoy via kayak or canoe. Please note that you must rent them from businesses outside the park, as there are no rentals within it. Also, there’s no fishing license required when you fish from the beaches within the state park. See what you can catch for dinner!
When you’re ready to head to the “town side” of Galveston Island, stop by island famous and local hangout The Spot. Perfect ocean views, laid-back atmosphere and a tasty menu make this landmark establishment a must-see before you leave Galveston. After your meal, head down the street to Murdoch’s, and pick up a souvenir or kick back and take a nap in their oversized rocking chairs.
