For a great day at the beach without the hustle and bustle of town, head out to East Beach. Located at the far end of Seawall Boulevard (just a couple of miles past Stewart Beach Galveston, East Beach features Galveston’s widest and longest sections of beaches—plenty of room to relax and stretch out.
Another advantage East Beach has over the rest of Galveston’s beaches is this: alcohol is allowed. That’s right—bring your own cooler or visit the bar inside the pavilion. Either way, it’s all good. You can enjoy the beautiful weather and the rolling waves in whichever way suits you best.
Another favorite feature of East Beach is live entertainment. During the summer months, visitors to East Beach are likely to find any number of music festivals and concerts—either on the beach or in the pavilion just west of the entrance. The pavilion also features a gift shop and concessions, showers, and bathrooms—all within walking distance of the waves.
All it takes to enjoy East Beach is a small entrance fee per vehicle—but once you’re there you’ll have plenty of spots to choose from, from the party at the pavilion all the way to the further reaches of the beach where it’s quieter. And if you don’t mind a short walk with your coolers and supplies, there is free parking outside the entrance.
East Beach is a little bit out of town—but most people will tell you this is a plus, not a minus. It’s quieter and there is more room. And with the lifeguards on duty, you’ll rest easy knowing that you and your group are still safe and free to enjoy the day without worry.
Hours of operation vary according to season, but if you come after breakfast you can be sure to have a good start on your day at the beach. We’ll see you there!
