The Polar Express By Galveston Railroad Museum

The Holiday season is just around the corner and the festivities are picking up in full force. It’s a little chilly, but the sun still shines and brings warmth to the island. The Polar Express By Galveston Railroad Museum is a must see.

Starting November 18th and ending on December 23rd, The Galveston Railroad Museum is continuing its tradition of hosting The Polar Express Train Ride. The locomotive pulling 6 carts will take visitors on a ride to the North Pole.

The Polar Express, an inspiring adventure based on the beloved children’s book by Chris Van Allsburg, motion picture is used to create the storyline and theatrical reenactments of its characters, and the children’s storybook will be read as the characters visit each cart.

Keep your eyes peeled for caribou and pay close attention to when the conductor comes around to punch golden tickets, which can be taken home as a souvenir. Dancing and singing chefs will then serve hot cocoa to sip on and cookies to munch as the ride continues through the snow caps.

Once arriving at the North Pole, Santa will appear to present the first gift of Christmas, a Silver Sleigh Bell. With the help of elves, Santa will greet the passengers and present each child with the first gift that can be taken home.

It is encouraged for families to wear holiday pajamas and join the fun with the rest of the train goers.

At the end of the trip make sure to stop by the Museum Gift Shop to pick up a souvenir to remember the magical journey that was just embarked on. This simple story and train ride has become a holiday tradition for families.

It is highly recommended to plan ahead and purchase tickets in advance, as this event typically sells out in advance.

Make sure to also check out the other winter festivities at Moody Gardens with the Festival of Lights and Dickens on the Strand in December.

Ryson Vacation Rentals offers more than 250 properties across the island that provide plenty of reasons to visit Galveston this year. If you need help planning your visit, Gulf Coast Concierge is available to assist.
