Texas Snowbirds find Galveston Island to be a favorite destination, our friendly term for visitors from the colder regions who spend their winters in Galveston, TX. There is so much to do and see, a month just isn’t long enough.

December Events

There are numerous attractions that occur all through the month of December for the Texas Snowbirds. Dickens on the Strand transforms the Galveston Strand into Victorian England inspired by the Charles Dickens era, hence the name. This holiday festival takes visitors back to the Victorian Era as street vendors with push carts work amongst carolers and street musicians, while children busy themselves at the Royal Menagerie Petting Zoo. You may also take interest in the Victorian Christmas Homes Tour, where you can relax, sip on a warm cup of hot chocolate, cozy up in a horse-drawn carriage, and entice yourself in the beauty of how historical homes decorate to celebrate the holidays. If that isn’t enough, Moody Gardens Festival of Lights is one of the largest festivals of lights in Texas along with an outdoor ice-skating rink that people of all ages can enjoy!

January Events

In January Galveston restaurants participate in Galveston Restaurant Week. The islands best restaurants offer lunch and dinner specials with special pricing.

February Events

February is always an exhilarating month for Galveston and all of its surrounding neighbors. Mardi Gras! Galveston lights up the streets of downtown with festivities including nine parades, fifteen masquerade balls and live entertainment throughout the Historic Strand District.

March Events

During the month of March Galveston hosts its annual Home & Garden Show, where on-site demonstrations and home and garden suppliers host the show, supporting the Animal Adoption Center of Galveston Island.
